So.. does anyone believe me that Perron can get 70-80 points in a full season yet?

Again, carry the puck in, get it to the point, get to the net, a goal is scored. He does the right things and the penguins got rewarded. Maybe Toronto has a hard on for the Sutter name and would be willing to do a Santorelli Winnik swap for Sutter+.

I noticed him a lot in our own end last night in a good way. I was more impressed by that. Hornqvist and Perron are guys you can win with.

Agreed. Everyone time Perron is on the ice I notice his defensive game as much as his offensive game.

Considering his 9 in 16... 16*5 = 80 games (hes now a Penguin, lets not assume him 82 games any year), thats a 45 goal pace.

Yeah, I can see 80 points as possible, hes a more complete player than Ovi

Agreed. I was campaigning hard around here for him. I even went as far as saying our 1st plus Dumoulin to get it done. I've always wanted him here and thought he would compliment Sid really well. I think we really won on this trade, even if the first rounder we sent out becomes a pretty good player. We get our young talent now, not a few years.

Now the question to the guys who have wanted Kane.. would you rather of gotten Kane (healthy) or Perron? I go Perron 10/10

I agree with that. He backchecks really well. Has broken up numerous plays in his short time here. I can't believe we got him for a first and Klink considering the ransom Buffalo paid for Kane.

Perron and Comeau. GMJR becoming legendary in a short time here.

I'd be all for that move. The 3rd line was terrible last night. Nearly every shift they were stuck in their own zone losing puck battles

I'd take perron over Kane especially at the price paid. Perron could be a good fit here for a long time as long as he doesn't demand to much $ for his next deal

Couldn't have said it better, other than resigning both.

Perron 5 year 5.5 per

Comeau 3 year 2.5 per

I think he's past the days where he cares about himself. When he joined the Pens he said that he was extremely excited to get a chance to play for a contender and that he's at the point in his career that he cares more about winning and the team than himself. That speaks volumes and I'm sure he will take a 2 million dollar upgrade on a 5 year deal.

But it's not always what the player wants. The agents want to get as much $ as they can. GMJRs best bet may be to sign him as soon as he can in the off season before he does have a monster season

I was really hoping Geno would pull off the Carolina goal again, and he came damn close. Fleury played a nice game as well. Good to see him set a new personal best on the shutout streak.

Perron will hopefully sign like a 6 year 30 million dollar deal this summer. Comeau will hopefully sign a relatively cheap deal before free agency, but I don't see it. He is getting 3mill on the open market and I wouldn't blame him for a second to take some team for every penny. The guy has worked hard and earned a big pay day.

Although, I think 3 years at 2AAV aint too bad.

I'd make that deal in a heartbeat.

At this point I'd trade Sutter anywhere for a 3/4 line center....

To ARI for Chipchura
To EDM for B Gordon
To TOR for Winnik
To BUF for Hodgeson???? Think BUF has given up on him and would value Sutters experience? Was surprised to see in 51 gp 2 goals and 10 points. Still loaded with talent but talk about a sophomore slump....

a great write up Gunner I also liked your piece on the Kane trade. A solid 60 min effort from the Pens last night, the only negative I could see was the PP , they're so much talent out there it's sick but they get into that "Harlem globetrotting" style with too many fancy drop passes or spin around crap , just move the puck cleanly and take your shots when u get them. On a side note, Every time I see Sutturd go into the corners I throw up a little bit in my mouth because I KNOW he's not coming out with the puck , I mean not even once in a while ? I thought even a blind squirrel finds a nut right ?

I don't think a 5th year player can have a "sophomore slump." But yeah, he's better than his numbers indicate. Think you'd have to give up Sutter+ to get him, though.
